Apple released their iOS 8 beta yesterday for iOS developers. Developers\u00a0can now download iOS 8 and install it manually\u00a0on their\u00a0iPhones. The only problem is…it is a beta! It is buggy.<\/p>\n

I installed it on one of my phones today and immediately found iOS 8 leaving\u00a0my iPhone completely unusable. My iPhone’s touchscreen was not registering any taps correctly! For example,\u00a0If I tapped\u00a0“Q” on my keyboard, the iPhone would think I was tapping\u00a0“M”.\u00a0I then tapped an icon on the home screen in the left column and it registers on an icon in the third column. What good is the new iOS 8 if the\u00a0touchscreen become utterly uncalibrated. I found that when I\u00a0restarted my\u00a0iPhone it was fixed\u00a0for about 10 seconds and then the\u00a0issue would start right back up again. Of course you can restore the phone back to iOS 7.1.1<\/a>, but here is how to fix it with out going through all that trouble:<\/p>\n

Problem<\/strong>:\u00a0Tap events are horizontally offset by roughly half a screen. For example, you tap an icon on the home screen in the left column and it registers on an icon in the third column.<\/p>\n

Affects<\/strong>: iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s on iOS 8 Beta<\/p>\n

Fix<\/strong>: Disable \u201cZoom\u201d — under Settings > General >\u00a0Accessibility > Zoom<\/span><\/p>\n

That’s it! For some reason there is a weird bug in iOS 8 when\u00a0the zoom setting\u00a0is\u00a0on. It renders each tap event\u00a0completely off. Hope that helps.
